What to Do If You Have Trouble Training Your Dog

,
LEARNING WITH ANIMATION:

While most dogs are agreeable to studying basic rules of obedience if started at a fresh age, every once in a spell a dog and a master just will not be in a position to come together to find a booming training routine. This can be extremely frustrating for both parties engaged. Fortunately, there're many outside sources that can be of help with this.

The hottest are "doggie daycare" or "doggie boot camps", pet care programs very similar to child daycares. At a dog daycare, dogs are paired with trainers for sixty minutes or two on a daily basis and taught basic obedience; sit, come, don't bite the nice salesman. Once the dogs have mastered that, more advanced training is frequently available. The focus here is not entirely on training, even so. Day cares for dogs are intended to provide a safe, happy place for a dog to go while their owner is at work, and they allow the animals enough play time, often complete with canine playground, as well as an in-depth grooming regime daily; they'll clip the dog's nails, clean their ears and eyes, bathe them and trim their coats when it is required. More detailed grooming options may be accessible; although, this varies by facility.

Doggie boot camp is becoming more and more popular as a method to handle animals that possess simply refused to be trained. A group of professional trainers will work on your dog daily, for several hours each day, teaching them to obey basic commands. Each facility's techniques of doing this are different; some use punishment based methods, while others use rewards and positive reinforcement. This might be a boarding program, where your dog goes to a separate facility for a duration of time, sleeping there, or it may be carried out as each day school, where the owner drops the dog off in the morning and picks them up in the afternoon. Some programs work with the owners as well; you and your dog will have a session with the trainer in which they will teach you to teach your dog to listen, and how to work without being frustrated.

Canine boot camp can sound like a gift from the heavens, but owners should be cautious. Beware of programs that claim to give you a perfectly trained animal within a point of days; while a dog may be able to learn a trick or two in that time, it is unlikely the training will stick to them once they have returned home. Observation of their training methods is significant as well; while results are crucial, extreme force ought not to be used.

Irrespective of which program you decide to use, investigate the facility and the staff carefully. Confirm the credentials of the staff, and that they have been trained to address any emergencies that might arise while your dog is in their care. Be sure that the facility is clean, of sufficient size and does not possess any features which appear to be hazardous to the dogs. Each dog should have its separate space, with plenty of time allotted for feeding and rest, and an isolation area ought to be accessible for any animal who becomes uncontrollable.

Facts on these programs can be obtained on the world wide web, through your veterinarian, and through the SPCA.

Hunting 101

,
LEARNING WITH ANIMATION:

When you are getting ready for a day in the field, regardless of whether you are going to be hunting locally or if you are going to be hunting remotely, it is important to make sure that you are prepared properly. This is important, not only for your personal comfort but also because it can make a difference in how successful the hunt is that you are going to have on that day. Since there are many things that need to be considered, it is a good idea for you to have a checklist of the more important items that you will want to include. You should also keep in mind that a successful hunt does not start with tracking on the day before the hunt. In many cases, it comes from knowing what is going on in the area as well as the habits of the game that you are hunting.

Perhaps it would be better if we started at the beginning, looking at some of the things that can be done long before the hunt actually occurs. You would want to make sure that you were scouting the area, not only to learn the habits of the animals that are in the area, but to learn what types of animals are in the area as well. For that, you may need a game camera, as this is a very convenient way for you to be able to keep an eye on the area, even if you are not in the area. There are several different choices as far as a game camera is concerned, but you would want to go with something that was high-quality, such as one by Moultrie or a similar company. The last thing that you would want to have happen is to have the camera fail or to have other problems, which could waste a considerable amount of time.

You should also consider the type of materials that are going to be taken along with you on the hunt. For example, you would want to have items that were specific to the weather in the area, as well as any gadgets that will help you along the way. Along with these, you would want to have the right type of pack in order to carry all of the gear. At times, it may actually take more than one pack, but a well-equipped hunter is often a successful hunter.

Finally, you would want to consider the type of conditions where you will be hunting. For example, you may want to try a tree stand so that you can get above the surface and have a better vantage point. If you are going to be hunting on the ground, you may want to consider one of the archery blinds by Double Bull. This can make you practically invisible and give you a better opportunity to really get near to the game that you will be hunting. Of course, in either of these cases, you would want to make sure of local regulations, as they are generally governed by the state. But if you are able to use one of these items, you will find that it really can help to boost your success rate.

The Panda Teddy Bear and Learning About the Real Thing

,
LEARNING WITH ANIMATION:

A panda teddy bear is in fact a teddy bear, but it looks like a panda instead of the iconic teddy design. As teddy's go, the panda teddy bear is a very popular one, given the worldwide admiration the population has for these unusual animals. Learning more about the actual panda bear species, is also a lot more interesting when you have an actual panda teddy bear in your possession.

For many years, it was believed that the giant panda bear was part of the raccoon family, but both genetic testing and observation has proven that theory to be incorrect - since1995, panda's have in fact been considered members of the bear family.

As far as bears go, panda's are quite unusual; on their front paws they have six digits with apposable thumbs giving them the ability to hold onto stalks of bamboo - their preferred food (it makes up 99 percent of their diet, eating anywhere from 26 to 33 pounds per day - close to 40 percent of their body weight); they have a large head and are a distinct black and white in color; they can only be found living in the wild in six regions of southwest China, along the Tibetan plateau in the provinces of Sichuan, Gansu, and Shaanzi. All combined, these areas are less than 5,400 square miles and sit at a very high altitude (4,000 to 11,500 feet). Thick mountain forests boasting more than 30 species of bamboo, are where the panda's can be found. In all, the panda's home ranges are from 1.8 to 3.3 miles with territories of the males overlapping those of the females.

At birth, newborn panda's weigh just 3 to 5 ounces. Males will grow to weights of between 190 and 275 pounds while females are a little smaller weighing in at 155 to 220 pounds. Sexual maturity is only reached when females are 4 ½ to 6 ½ years old. In addition, they will only mate one time in the spring in the months of March, April, and May. One to three cubs are usually born in August and September although one cub is more common. Cubs are weaned at nine months of age but like many other bear species, will often stay with mom for more than two years.

Pandas, like other bear species, are solitary animals with females and their cubs being the only exception. Territories are marked by the scratching of trees and rubbing up against rocks and trees in which the panda leaves an anogenital gland that has a musky smell.

In terms of popularity it's hard to know exactly where the panda teddy bear ranks in the world of stuffed animals, but given these unique bears command top attention at zoos lucky enough to have them, you can bet, panda teddy bears fly off the shelves after a visit.

7 Tips To Horsemanship And Riding - Is Learning Horsemanship and Riding Really This Easy?

,
LEARNING WITH ANIMATION:

Approaching a horse correctly is the first step to gaining
it's trust. Walk slowly from the side toward the
shoulder, never approach a horse head on. Don't look
directly at the horse for a horse may interpret you as a
stalking predator.

Horses have a blind spot right in front of their nose due to
the position of their eyes on either side of their head.
Approaching from the shoulder is less intimidating for a
horse and allows them to see you clearly without a blind
spot.

Horses have a strong prey animal response. In the wild,
horses were stalked by predators and their defense was
to run from danger.

Predators approached from the rear or from the nose of the
horse - the two blind spots in a horse's field of vision.
Moving at a horse from a side position will be more
comfortable for the horse than going straight at the nose
like a predatory animal.

Once you have approached the horse at the shoulder, hold out
your fist slightly and allow the horse to smell you. Don't
reach for the muzzle (nose), but wait for the horse to turn
and smell you.

Horses will interact with you if given the chance and time
to investigate the situation. These simple mannerisms will
gain a horse's trust.

The best place to touch a horse is the shoulder area.
Horses are naturally shy about the head, reaching for a
horse's forehead or muzzle after entering their space, may
trigger their prey animal flight instincts.

Touch the shoulder area in a rhythmic, massaging motion.
Horses do not appreciate being patted like a dog. The off
and on pressures of patting translate to an attack type
encounter. Keep your pressure constant and moving.

Once your horse is comfortable with your touch, begin to
move to other areas of the horse's body slowly. This will
build trust so that the horse knows you will not harm it.
The relationship you are building now is your foundation
for riding.

You want to be able to touch the horse anywhere on it's
body. The veterinarian and farrier will need to touch the
horse to treat it and keep it healthy. Teach your horse
that it's not going to get hurt by touch, or that it's even
pleasurable, and your horse will starting seeking you.

By watching a horse's body for alarm signals, you will know
if the horse is anxious.

Signs that your horse is alarmed include: the eyes getting
large and round, ears pinned back, the feet moving and the
head up high. If your horse does these things, it is not
comfortable with what is happening. In this situation, it is
your responsibility to remove the cause of the anxiety.
If you cannot relieve the horse's anxiety it will try to flee
the situation as its defense.

Reading your horse for signs of relaxation and comfort is
also useful.

Signs that your horse is comfortable include: chewing and
licking, blinking the eyes and big sighs. If you are
touching your horse and see your horse do these things, it
means they are relaxed.

Horsemanship is a partnership. Learn to read your
horse's body language and gain it's trust before you
saddle up and you'll enjoy years of riding with a good friend.

"I have ridden a horse several times before but was never
quite comfortable. A friend suggested your book, well within
an hour I couldn't wait to get back in the saddle.
I have
been having a great time ever since. I highly recommend
this!" Mark Blanc

"I have a vacation planned and want to go horseback riding
but didn't know a thing about it. This book has given me
everything I need to know and some outstanding information
on what to look for. Thank you." Samantha, New Horse Lover

Top 3 Reasons For Purchasing Electric Dog Fences

,
LEARNING WITH ANIMATION:

Do you have a dog that simply will not stay in the yard and is constantly roaming the neighborhood? There are a number of reasons why you might want to purchase electric dog fences for you yard. Here are 3 of the top reasons for doing so.

Contain Your Roaming Dog

A roaming dog is a problem that many dog owners have to deal with from time to time, and it can be a frustrating problem to have to deal with to say the least. Electric dog fences help create an invisible line in the yard that dogs will learn not to cross.

How? When they get to close to the fence, they will be alerted first by an alarmingly high tone which in most cases will cause them to stop. If that doesn't work and the dog continues to approach the underground fence, they will start to feel a slight tingle from the collar which can become more intense as they approach the line. This often times is enough to stop them from moving forward.

Keep Your Dog Safe

Electric dog fences also help promote a high level of safety for your dog because they keep them from getting into trouble elsewhere when they wander off down the street or road. Busy traffic areas are dangerous for animals simply because drivers don't always watch for animals, so there is the danger of your dog getting struck by a moving vehicle. Every time your dog is allowed to wander out of the yard, their life is put in danger.

Reinforce Obedience

Electric dog fences also help train your dog to be more obedient, meaning they will listen to you more. When you are able to train them to remain in the yard, then chances are you will be able to work on training them in other areas of obedience as well.

What's in Your Pet's Food: Is Buying a Top Premium Dog Food Worth the Money?

,
LEARNING WITH ANIMATION:

There is a lot of controversy with dog owners over which dog food is better. Some people have no idea what makes a good dog food. They buy the most expensive brand because they assume it must be a top quality dog food. Others feel that dog food is dog food and if their dog seems to be healthy then they see no reason to spend the extra money on a premium brand.

Before we look at dog food costs, let's begin with what makes a good dog food. A top quality dog food depends on the quality of ingredients and the nutritional power of the food. It should offer a balanced diet and contain superior sources of protein as one of the first two ingredients. This can include whole fresh meats or single-source meat meal like chicken meal (rather than poultry meal). A top dog food would also contain whole, unprocessed grains plus vegetables and even fruits. It would have few fillers such as corn, soy, brewer's rice and wheat bran. It would use natural preservatives instead of chemicals like propylene glycol and BHT or BHT.

Supermarket Dog Foods vs. Premium Brands: Which is a Better Value for the Money?

Some people experience sticker shock when they compare the price of a premium dog food with an economy brand. Many dog foods found in supermarkets are so-called economy brands, which, surprisingly, end up costing more to feed your dog than top rated premium dog foods. Why? Because "economy" dog foods tend to be lower in nutrients than premium foods and you have to feed your dog more to get the same nutritional punch of a more expensive premium brand. For example, the recommended feeding instructions for one supermarket brand say to feed approximately 6 cups a day for a 35-50 lb dog. The label on an ultra-premium dog food recommends about 1 ¾ to 2 cups per day. That's around three times as much of the standard dog food vs. the premium food. So now which costs less? And just think about the extra poop you will have to scoop if you're feeding your dog six cups a day! Some lower end dog food manufacturers have even reduced the recommended feeding amount to make their food look more economical.

Lower end dog foods usually contain corn meal as one of the main ingredients (an acceptable protein source, but may cause allergies in some dogs), plus chicken or animal byproducts or rendered meat/poultry. Byproducts are ground, rendered, pieces of the carcasses of slaughtered animals or poultry and can include heads, feet, necks, and viscera. These are less nutritious but are often used in lower-quality dog foods because they are much cheaper than whole turkey, chicken, or meat. Rendered is often referred to as "byproducts meal" and it means the cooked and processed remains of the leftovers in meat and poultry processing. Yuck!

What Should You Look for in a Dog Food?

Learn how to read the label. Better dog foods are made from whole product, such as chicken, turkey, and lamb. Also check the label to see if the protein source is free of hormones, antibiotics, and pesticides. Chicken fat is a very good source of linoleic acid, which helps makes dogs' coats healthy and shiny. Also check the fiber content. Three to four percent fiber is recommended for solid stools. Avoid dog foods that have rendered meats, poultry or fats, animal byproducts, added growth hormones, brain or spinal tissue, artificial colors, artificial flavors, preservatives, and for dogs that may have allergies, avoid corn, soy, wheat, and eggs.

So what About the Cost?

There are many excellent dog foods on the market, and a variety of prices. Buying a top quality dog food doesn't necessarily mean you will be paying the most; understanding the ingredients list and getting value for your money is what counts.

5 Tips for Developing a Power Personality

,
LEARNING WITH ANIMATION:

A power personality isn't a natural phenomena that only affects a few gifted people. Those who succeed in life learn to develop the traits and skills of a leader. Many rich and famous have ended up in the poorhouse, while others from poverty stricken backgrounds have risen to become household names.

Bill Gates, Tiger Woods. Wayne Gretzky and Abraham Lincoln all share the same traits that made them who they are. They became famous because they practiced their craft, honed their skills until they broke records that no one ever thought possible. But those skills are not exclusive to them alone. If you want to develop a power personality, all you really need to do is apply the same techniques that made them famous.

Take Charge of Your Life

You are the only one that can determine the direction of your life. Too many people believe they are victims of circumstances. They blame the government, their lack of education, their lack of finances as the reasons that hold them back. But poverty, age or education are mere excuses for staying in the comfort zone. Much of such reasoning comes from the limiting beliefs you've grown up under. Parents, friends, teachers, though well meaning, have drilled into your mind that you are limited in your skills. Do the best you can with what you have and accept your fate. But those who develop a power personality have no limits.

Set the Right Goals

If you really want something badly, you'll find a way to get it. Unfortunately, for many, setting goals don't come easy. Few have a concrete idea of where they want to go in life. They drift with the tide. If they set goals, those goals are not suited for their personality types. You can't be a slim fashion model of weight has been a great problem throughout your life. Setting goals must be specific to what you want to achieve and not based on what society tells you is what you should be doing. Those who succeeded in life were often rebels and did what society said was impossible.

The Powerful Use of Imagination

Walt Disney was an adult who spent a great part of his life in creating an animated mouse. From that he created a massive entertainment industry that delights young and old alike today. He had a vivid imagination. He saw the outcome well before he created his first animation. All power personalities use imagination and creativity to inspire them to reach for their goals. Every waking moment they see their dreams realized and go through the steps that lead them there.

Power Personalities Associate with Power Personalities

You don't find successful people associating with gutter hobos and bag ladies. While they may offer help and assistance, they know that they need to associate with other successful people if they are to be a success too. If you're watching too much violence on televisions or associate with those who gripe and complain about the unfairness of life, you won't have the incentive to achieve anything. The media projects bad news because bad news sells. So if you spend a great deal of time watching the evening news and reading about the latest killings in the paper, you're focusing your mind on the negatives. Successful people read the Wall Street Journal and publications related to their fields. They don't have time to get dragged down by bad news. They read inspiring biographies and listen to motivational CDs. They go to seminars where they can associate with like minded people.

Power Personalities are Successful Because They Help Others.

They are not selfish and hoard their wealth. Many rich and famous, like Bill Gates, are philanthropists. They give away some of their wealth or get involved with charity drives. They don't do it for the publicity, but from a great need to give back what they so generously received.

Life is difficult enough without trying to live it in a protective shell. Learning to develop a power personality doesn't make you greedy or selfish. If you develop the same skills, you can be a light to others of what it means to be an exceptional human being. The rewards of wealth and success come as a byproduct of developing a power personality..

Family Fun at Miami Seaquarium

,
LEARNING WITH ANIMATION:

Often dubbed "America's Riviera", Miami, Florida, is well known for its sparkling blue waters, bustling beaches and cosmopolitan atmosphere. However, while many people on holiday in Miami are likely to spend their days on Miami Beach and their nights in Miami's legendary nightclubs, there are a variety of family-friendly attractions that offer travellers a memorable experience. Miami Seaquarium, for instance, is often described as a smaller version of Orlando's SeaWorld and has attracted visitors in their hoards since its first opening in 1955.

Stretching across 15 hectares of land, Miami Seaquarium is located on Virginia Key in Biscayne Bay. It is a complete marine life park that fully devotes its resources to the protection of aquatic creatures, while educating visitors about them at the same time. Although the Miami Seaquarium was devastated during Hurricane Wilma in 2005, it has successfully bounced back and now offers a variety of marine animal shows, exhibits and learning facilities for visitors of all ages.

The Seaquarium is home to a number of marine mammals, but in addition also houses sharks, fish, sea turtles, birds, reptiles and manatees. Among its prize possessions are its dolphins, which take part in the daily Flipper Show. The Flipper Lagoon, well-known as the filming site of 1960s television show "Flipper", sees dolphins perform tricks to music. Moreover, Miami Seaquarium is also highly regarded for its Water and Dolphin Exploration Program (WADE), which allows visitors to touch and swim with dolphins in the Flipper Lagoon for up to two hours with a one-on-one trainer.

The Killer Whale Show is also a central part of Miami Seaquarium's repertoire. In it, visitors will be able to see the antics of the marine park's star attraction - the killer whale Lolita. Some controversy has surrounded the marine park as a result of the conditions in which Lolita is kept, but the Seaquarium has managed to successfully defend itself against any accusations of animal cruelty. To date, Miami Seaquarium also works on a range of conservation issues, especially with regard to the endangered Florida Manatee and the rehabilitation of injured sea animals.

If you visit Miami with children, the Seaquarium offers many opportunities for visitors to feed the marine animals that live there - an activity that most kids are sure to love! You'll be able to buy small fish to feed the noisy Sea Lions, or even feed some large fish to a group of small sharks.

Holidaymakers planning to visit Miami will be able to find a range of flights to Miami from the UK on a regular basis. What's more, if you're staying at a hotel in Miami, the Miami Seaquarium is easy to locate - simply take the Rickenbacker Causeway towards Key Biscayne and you'll be there in no time!

Whatever brought you to learn more about your cat you will find that these animals are much more complex than dogs.

The number one reason why most cats are given up to shelters by their owners are because of cat behavior problems. Most behavior problems usually fit into two groups. These groups can be divided into are feline aggression and litter box problems.

Most people just want a quick solution to their cat behavior problem, but it important to figure out why it started, and when. By figuring out if there are any triggering events in the house that lead to the problem, a solution can be implemented quicker.

Cat behavior problems often start because of stress in the house. This stress in the house could come from anywhere. A change in the household routine, a new baby, or a new kitten in the house could call trigger a cat problem.

Once you have identified the cause of the problem you can go about putting solutions in place to quickly solve the issue. Canine Raw Diet - Switching From Kibble

,
LEARNING WITH ANIMATION:

A number of articles, websites and books are now devoted to the canine raw diet, otherwise known as the raw food diet for dogs.

The canine raw diet is considered the best type of diet for dogs, simply because it most closely mimics what our dog's ancestors have naturally eaten for thousands of years.

Dogs have short digestive tracts and their tooth and jaw structure are different from humans. Their bodies are still designed to eat the stomach contents, muscle meat, organ meats, bones and blood of freshly killed animals, rather than dry foods such as kibble. The nutrients in a freshly killed mammal or fish give dogs necessary proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, and digestive enzymes, and keep their teeth and gums in great shape.

In contrast, most types of kibble, even high-end kibble, pale in comparison. Kibble is baked. Heat destroys some vitamins and enzymes and alters the composition of some of the proteins and fats to make them less useful. Lower end kibbles also include harmful substances such as preservatives and artificial coloring and flavorings and, at the worst, may consist of animal waste products, diseased animal parts and toxic filler chemicals.

However, kibble is very easy to prepare and feed to a dog. Also, the manufacturers claim that if you feed your dog a certain amount, your dog will receive a nutritionally balanced diet.

With all the current information about a raw food diet being better for dogs, why do most dog owners still feed their dog kibble, especially when raw food is supposed to cost less than high-end kibble, even for a big dog?

One reason may be that people think a canine raw diet would be difficult to prepare and maintain over a period of time. Looking at that realistically, however, buying, storing and dividing meat into portions for either freezing or feeding takes hardly any time. Buying, washing and storing vegetables, and taking batches to run through the food processor also doesn't take much time.

Another reason is that people may think they have to buy organic meats and vegetables. While this would be close to ideal, regular meats and vegetables, as fresh as possible or frozen, are still considered better than most kibbles. (Most ideal would be home grown organic vegetables that are picked fresh out of the garden just before feeding, and fresh killed organic meat that you have raised yourself, but this is reality for far too few people).

One of the main reasons people may be reluctant to make the switch (myself among them) is uncertainty about the following:

How gradually to make the switch

What the right amounts and proportions to feed the dog are

Which meats and vegetables are good to serve; which ones should be avoided

How to know if the dog is getting a nutritionally balanced diet

Which supplements to add, if any

Fortunately, there are several folks who have fed their dogs a canine raw diet in whole or in part for years and are willing to share what they've learned with others. There are also companies that prepare some of the ingredients for you and tell you what to add to balance out the mix.

Look at the resource link below this article to help you get started.

Create a Virtual 3D World on Your Website

,
LEARNING WITH ANIMATION:

VRML, which stands for virtual reality markup language, is a technology for animation and 3D modeling that lets you create 3D scenes for websites. A special VRML browser plug in lets you control the viewing of VRML components on web sites. Panoramas are another type of virtual reality component, similar in some ways to VRML in that the user needs a special plug in to view and control the viewing of the panoramic virtual reality component. However, unlike VRML panoramas are made up of a series of photographs stitched together to create one image that you can view entirely as you move your cursor across the image.

Web designers add virtual reality (VR) components to web pages for several reasons, including to make web pages more interesting and interactive, and to display an item in a 3D view.

Some common formats for panoramas include Quick Time VR, VRML2, Black Diamond's Surround Video, and Infinite Pictures SmoothMove.

VRML offers uses for many types of websites, including entertainment, education, computer aided design, product marketing, virtual malls, and much more. Panoramas are useful for these same types of websites, as well as real estate and travel.

VR components offer many advantages to web site designers. They make web sites more interesting and interactive, provide more detail for objects or places than regular flat photos, there is no need for complex programming to add a VR component to your web site , and they generally have cross-platform and cross-browser compatibility. Some disadvantages include requirement of a plug in for viewing, (in many cases), long download time for some web VR components, depending on the file size and type, and the needed skills and creativity for quality output.

Many software programs, such as Caligari's TrueSpace, Micrografx Simply 3D, Silicon Graphics Internet 3D Space Builder, and Platinum Technology's VRCreator learning edition, automatically creat VRML files for you.

Some software options for panorama creation include Apple's Quick Time VR Authoring Studio, Enroute Imaging's QuickStitch 360, Video Brush Corporation's VideoBrush Panorama, Live Picture's Photo Vista, Infinite Picture's Smooth Move, Ulead's Cool 360, and Black Diamond's Surround Video.

Now, go forth and CREATE!

Interactive Whiteboards Benefits

,
LEARNING WITH ANIMATION:

1) Interactive-whiteboard is suitable for learners of all ages and allows them to work collaboratively.

2) It looks and can work like a conventional-whiteboard. Thus it maintains the familiarity one has with the traditional-whiteboard.

3) It is a better option than a computer monitor when its comes to classroom presentation. While through a PC only limited number of students can be given presentation at a time, with IWB entire class can be covered very easily as it is much bigger in size.

4) An-IWB allows integration of audio, video, graphics, text and animation (from wide variety of media like CD-ROM, Internet, intra net, multimedia projector, DVD, VCD, student response system, TV, radio etc) with the lessons. Thus it provides not only enjoyment and interactivity but also makes the learning process much more interesting and fun. It enables teachers to adopt different learning styles to meet the learners' need. Thus it can also help in creating a personalized learning environment.

5) Anything drawn or written on the interactive-whiteboard-surface can be saved on a computer hard disk through a whiteboard-software. In this way teachers can save and share there work and re-used it subsequently in case a repetition is required.

6) Contents from websites, blogs, forums, newsgroups, wikis and other web based resources can be brought on the IWB-surface through a LCD projector. Thus it promotes e-learning.

7) It is an ideal tool for conducting brainstorming sessions and other group activities when used in conjunction with response-systems.

8) It is much easier to use than a conventional desktop-computer or laptop.

9) It is a very powerful teaching tool as: it enhances modeling and presentation, allows teachers to make effective use of classroom-resources, motivates learners, improve communication and can bring in depth clarity on a topic/subject matter.

10) It can also be used for video conferencing, impressive sales presentations, staff training, meetings, briefings, group discussions etc and is thus an excellent ICT product for corporate sector.

How to Teach to a Diverse Classroom of Students

,
LEARNING WITH ANIMATION:

Each year teachers are faced with the daunting task of teaching
to a classroom of 20-30 individual students, each with their own
learning styles, interests, and abilities. Providing optimal
learning for such a diverse group can seem overwhelming. But,
there is a simple approach that can be used which will enable
all students to succeed, and that approach is simply using
variety and choice. Not only does this approach address the
multiple learning styles of students, but it also aides in making
them independent learners.

While the classroom still needs to have structure (routines,
rules, procedures), providing variety within that structured
environment can aide in providing optimal learning for all
students. Using a variety of instructional approaches such as
lectures, PowerPoint presentations, inquiry-based instruction,
hands-on experiments, project/problem-based learning, or
computer aided instruction, not only addresses the various
learning styles of the students in the classroom, but it can help
learners become more flexible in their learning. Most learners
do have a preferred learning style, however this does not mean
they are strictly dependent on that style to learn. They are
also comfortable with and able to learn from several other styles
as well. Exposing students to a wide variety of learning styles
will enable them to become more flexible learners.

It is also beneficial to vary the input devices used and the
resources made available in the classroom. Children have a wide
variety of preferred learning devices, therefore making as many
available as possible provides for this diversity. For example,
when presenting information use audio (songs, speeches,
interviews, etc.), video, books, posters, hands-on
manipulatives, food, and smells. Technology has made available
a wide range of resources, such as PowerPoint presentations,
live video feeds, chats, and communication. PowerPoint
presentations are a great way to present information using a
mixture of audio, video, animations (movement), and text. These
presentations can also be made available to the students via the
computer for them to review at their own pace. The internet/
computers also offer interactive learning activities that combine
movement, visuals, and sounds, such as virtual science
experiments. These allow students to conduct experiments
never before thought possible due to danger or lack of equipment.
Virtual experiments can be found at http://www.explorelearning.com .

Pre-exposure to material also aides in learning. The more
familiar students are with a subject the easier it is for new
learning to occur. Therefore, providing students with a
variety of pre-exposure materials can better prepare them for
new learning units. For example, monthly calendars that list
the upcoming themes, a classroom website with links to various
websites related to upcoming themes, books, magazines, maps,
posters, computer software, and manipulatives can be provided
for students to browse at their leisure. Providing a variety of
materials takes into consideration the learning preferences of
all students.

Novelty can be used to gain and keep students' attention.
People usually only pay attention to things that are of value or
things that are personally meaningful. Therefore, relating
learning to your students' real life experiences or interests
can catch and keep their attention. "Shock" them with an unusual
noise, experiment, video, song, etc. You can also present them
with a problem or project that relates to their real world in
order to gain their attention and interest at the beginning of
a unit. Issues such as environmental problems, problems with
long lines in the cafeteria, designing the perfect playground,
planning a field trip within the budget, local traffic issues,
etc. can all be considered. Making learning meaningful,
relevant, and interesting to your students not only gains their
initial attention, but keeps it throughout the lesson.

When planning your lessons it is beneficial to try to include as
many of the senses and/or Gardner's multiple intelligences
(verbal-linguistic, logical-mathematical, kinesthetic, visual-
spatial, musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and naturalist)
as possible. You can do this by using a variety of activities
in your plans such as songs, games, experiments, field trips,
real world experiences, interviews, guest speakers, physical
movement/exercise, small group activities, individual activities,
partner activities, cooking/food/snacks, hands-on experiences,
etc. Providing a variety of activities will enable students of
all ability levels to succeed.

Not only do students have diverse learning styles but varying
bio-cognitive cycles as well. Some students learn best in the
morning, some in the afternoon. Therefore, having a flexible
classroom schedule can provide for these differences. Also,
varying the times and types of assessments can give all students
a fair chance of showing their true abilities.

When applicable, it is beneficial to give students choice in
activities and assessments. This provides students
opportunities to showcase their individual talents and can aide
in classroom management as well. If students are constantly
dictated to and not given a voice or choice they can grow
resentful and "act out". Provide a variety of classroom
activities for students to choose from during structured and
unstructured times, give them several projects such as posters,
PowerPoint presentations, reports, interviews, videos, brochures,
etc. to choose from when assessing their knowledge. Giving
students choice provides them with a sense of empowerment over
their learning and can aide them in deciding what learning styles
and assessments work best for them, thus helping them become
more responsible for their own learning.

It would be a pretty boring world if all learners were the same.
Diversity makes the classroom more interesting and exciting.
Teachers should honor and respect the uniqueness of each
student by offering variety and choice in their classrooms. Not
only will this address the diverse needs of the students, but it
will also help them to become independent learners as well.
After all, is that not the goal of education?

Fisher Price InteracTV - Transforms Your Television Into an Active Experience For You and Your Child

,
LEARNING WITH ANIMATION:

The Fisher Price InteracTV learning system transforms television into an active experience! With the InteracTV system, kids can interact with their favourite shows and characters; Elmo, Sesame Street, Barney, Blues Clues, Dora the Explorer, Spongebob Squarepants, Sunny Patch, Clifford Puppy Days, Nick Toons and Scooby Doo. With specially designed DVDs children interact with the characters whilst playing games and completing activities designed to enhance the learning experience.

All you need is a DVD player, 3 AA batteries and a keen child as young as 3 years old. The best start-up buy for the system is the compilation pack which comes with the wireless controller, 3 activity cards (SpongeBob SquarePants, Sesame Street and Dora the Explorer) and a hard plastic storage case and is exceptionally good value for money at only .99. With this set you get over 100 randomly posed learning questions and activities that cover numbers, colours, animals and much more. A really versatile and useful feature is the switch on the controller that enables you to use the system on up to three different DVD players: great for multiple rooms or at relatives' houses, therefore great to take to grandparents or for sleepovers. It is a fantastic product for winter time or rainy days.

The controller is simple to use, it seems Fisher-Price thoroughly researched the ergonomics with preschoolers and designed a great product. The controller is kid friendly with big handles on both sides and is well balanced with large buttons. A great feature is the positive reinforcement with a wrong answer getting the question repeated, or a hint to the right one. There are no buzzers or other negative feedback and a correct answer results in happy sounds and praise.

This ground-breaking system from Fisher Price turns watching television into an active learning experience by letting your children interact with characters from their favourite television shows. It is a great way to let your child sit and watch the television without them just sitting there, they actually get to answer questions and learn at the same time.

Animated Video Production

,
LEARNING WITH ANIMATION:

I am starting to see more and more animated commercials on T.V. and online. Ever wonder why there is more animated video production?

Animated videos are great for explanation.

The reason so many businesses are using animations in their videos is that they are better able to explain a topic. Since Internet surfers are in the market to buy a product or service, they are seeking useful information. With an animated video, a company can better express its idea or concept. The flexibility that a filmmaker has with an animated video is huge in comparison to using a video with just people. He/she is able to show images in a way that makes it easy for the viewer to understand. I personally like to use animations to explain certain concepts. Also, with technologies like adobe after effects, it is easier to make a cool video production than it was in the past. If you are not trained in making a video, I suggest that you either take classes to learn the software, or hire a professional. The point I am trying to make is that making animated videos is easier and less expensive than it was in the past. For this reason, we are seeing these type of videos more frequently online and on T.V.

You may be interested in making an animated video for your business but not sure of what subject.

Many websites now have videos with animations that highlight their benefits and features. These types of videos are also best when describing "how it works". By using animations, a business can better show exactly how a complicated concept functions. This engages the customers and shows them the information in a user friendly manner.

Whatever a business's goal for using videos, I am sure that it will find using animations helpful.

What is Tellington Touch?

,
LEARNING WITH ANIMATION:

I often get asked to answer the question "What is Tellington Touch? Is it a training method, a behavioral method or a physical method?" The answer is, "Yes!"

TTouch is a holistic approach to the training, behaviour and care of all animals. One aspect of an animal's life affects all the aspects of their life so we don't ignore any one part.

TTouch is based in the human Feldenkrais work so our goal is always to bring a sense of balance to an animal be that mental, emotional, or physical. When any being has tension in their body, it changes who they are and how they move and act. You know how you feel on the days when you have a tension headache. It changes your mood, your gait and you seek out relief. With TTouch, we can do this for animals as well.

I get called in to help with animals who are not coping within their world very successfully. This can manifest in leash pulling, anxiety - either general or situation specific, and reactivity, as well as physical issues from injury. It is also helpful during palliative care. In all of these situations, the animal is out of balance in some way and we strive to help the animal correct that through positive, respectful, co-operation and by using non-habitual movements to create new neural pathways in the brain.

The backbone of TTouch, that most people recognize, is our movement of the animal's skin in a circle and a quarter. By moving the skin in this fashion, it helps to release tension, activates the cells of the body and brings awareness of their body to the animal. This helps with focus as well as relaxation and pain relief.

A relaxed and focused animal is an animal that thinks, not reacts. They are much better able to deduce if a situation is actually harmful or scary, and can self soothe or problem solve. In people we tend to call this Coping Skills. When you have that tension headache we mentioned, and the boss is on your back, and you just spilled your coffee on yourself, how embracing are you of the next challenge that comes along in your day? Our animals can be similar.

Some of the less recognized methods that TTouch practitioners use to help create those new neural pathways are by asking the animal to walk through obstacles while helping them to stay in physical balance using harnesses and special leashes. We ask that they maneuver through these obstacles slowly, with concentration. This can be very challenging if you are an animal that is unsure or have some physical ailment. By asking the animal to negotiate the obstacles, their brain learns how to best use their body in space, like the football player who takes ballet.

TTouch is such a great, gentle, multipurpose modality. It takes the entire animal into consideration and can help with training issues, behavioral issues and physical issues, often doing all three at once.

My Dog Died !

,
LEARNING WITH ANIMATION:

Pets provide an unconditional love that requires very little on the part of the human.

Animals are so special to those of us who love them. We miss them when they are no longer with us. We grieve for them in ways which are just the same as grieving for a human loved one.

Whether the end comes through old age, illness, sudden death, or euthanasia, the death of a pet can cause enormous feelings of sorrow, guilt, and loneliness for children and adults alike. Yet pet owners are often inhibited in their very real grief, even if the animal was considered a fully-fledged family member, a child's favoured playmate, or an older person's loyal and faithful companion.

Pet owners in grief are largely misunderstood and can even be ridiculed by friends and by society in general.

Some people don't want a pet because they do die ! It's understandable to be reluctant to expose yourself to death but, at the same time, we become immeasurably more human because our animals die. When we live with animals we're more in tune with the rhythms of the planet from day to night and from season to season because our companions make us more aware of the changes around us. Our companion animals teach us about the simple gifts of a beautiful day, a good meal and a gentle touch.

The death of a pet can make us wrestle with our belief structure - a natural part of the grieving process. Whether grieving an animal or human, we question our beliefs and many people find their belief structure becomes stronger when they ask themselves hard questions. Others find an new way of acceptance.

We use some kind of visualisation during our grieving process, imagining our loved ones in a beautiful place of peace and tranquil beauty, filled with light and flowers. Many of us see out deceased animals in this same place. This can be helpful and can provide some peace for those who are grieving.

And we learn from our animals. Animals aren't afraid to die, they show us that the end of life can be faced without fear. They can teach us to accept death as an opening for love and wonder.

Allow yourself to grieve in whatever way is appropriate for you. The loss of a pet is real grief and causes us to travel through the stages of grief - denial, anger, depression, guilt, and acceptance. These stages must be lived through for the mourning process to allow full healing.

The Top Five Disney Princesses

,
LEARNING WITH ANIMATION:

The first Disney Princess, Snow White, has not faded into the background. The prestige of her sympathetic story carries on still with young girls today. Snow White holds the emblem of a child that feels unloved, an attractive trait that allows youth to identify with her. With a common ground built, Snow White can then be idolized for some of her more profound traits-those of her kindness and purity.

It is notable that Snow White does not seek revenge from her ill fate, rather, she cares for her new friends and their home. This pleasant princess does not harbor any bitterness, showing how a kind heart can overcome even the most drastic of situations. Perhaps the goodness of her heart is most noted when she lets her stepmother, posing as an old hag, into her home after she has been warned to allow no visitors.

Little Princesses also love Snow White's appearance. With a gold skirt, blue bodice, and red pleated sleeves her dress is the most distinct of the Princesses' dresses. In the Disney movie, the Queen is preoccupied with Snow White's beauty while Snow White remains oblivious of her attractive appearance. She is not arrogant of her good looks, and young girls love to wear the bright colors of her dress and feel as distinctly beautiful and admired as Snow White.

Princess Jasmine appeals to our exotic side. The innate hunger for exotic locations is satisfied with the story of Princess Jasmine. If appearance alone isn't enough to make Jasmine a notable princess, then her attitude is.

Princess Jasmine lives a repressed life, desiring to experience the world. This is an innate desire, and allows for youth to really connect with Princess Jasmine. She refuses to marry inept suitors and runs away from home, determined to live life according to her own will. She stumbles onto Aladdin, who then uses a Genie and his magic lamp to pursue his courting of Princess Jasmine. The intense drama of Princess Jasmine's life maintains her popularity. She outsmarts dark villains and falls in love with a young street rat, finding lasting happiness by following her heart rather than her instructions.

Besides her big brown eyes, exotic dress, and free-willed personality, Princess Jasmine is loved for her companions. Abu and Genie provide enough humor and happiness to calm the fierceness of Jasmine's life. With a magic carpet and the savvy Aladdin himself, Princess Jasmine embodies much more than just a passionate princess-she encompasses the art of true friendship, a passionate life, and the feelings of familial love and forgiveness.

The visual aspects of Princess Jasmine provide the most intrigue, which keeps her costumes and companions as popular choices for youth looking to experience something unique.

Third, Princess Ariel brings a new spin for the imagination: while most girls reflect on what it would be like to be a mermaid, Ariel follows her dream to leave the sea and experience life as a human girl.

Ariel is determined to live life as passionately as possible. She loves with her whole heart. Enthralled with the objects of everyday human life, her passion for discovery takes her to new heights when she meets Prince Eric and falls in love. Risking everything and sacrificing her voice, Ariel doesn't think twice about following her heart at this chance for love.

Perhaps Ariel is most popular for her star-crossed lovers appeal. The impossible relationship between a mermaid and a man takes place, with the added drama of Ariel using the one thing that Eric would most remember about her-her voice.

Young girls love the songs and dream-like appeal about a young mermaid who wants to be like them. They fall in love with her beautiful red hair and want to dress up to look like her in their favorite Ariel costume. In Ariel's world, the Underwater castle with all of ocean creatures encourages the imagination, and it helps youth to reconsider aspects of their life when they see that Ariel would sacrifice her underwater throne to be a human.
Princess Ariel is the only princess that originated without of a human form. Her mermaid origins give more depth to the most romantic of the Disney Princesses.

Belle, who is intelligent and witty is is the only Disney "Princess" that was not born as a princess at all. She is the only daughter of an inventor, and despite her good looks and amiability, she chooses to spend her time reading. Belle is a magnet for the admiration of others, but she is so enthralled with life that she does not notice. Her strong connection with her father is unique, and when he goes missing, she seeks to find him.

Her father had stumbled upon an enchanted castle, where a terrible Beast locked him in a dungeon. Belle insists the Beast exchange her father's freedom for her imprisonment. A slow and beautiful relationship builds between Belle and the Beast, further revealing the depth of kindness that Belle is capable of. Belle's love for the Beast eventually saves him from his curse, and he returns to his human form as Prince.

Belle is loved because she is common, pure, and realistic. She seems like a real girl who plays in the snow, loves her father, and makes friends with all she meets. Belle has the remarkable ability to see past appearances, an aspect many girls look up to. She is lovable because she is so genuine. She presents girls with the idea that a regular girl can be a princess as well, which makes wearing Belle costumes even more special to dress up in.

Last but not least is Cinderella. If there is a young girl's definition of a princess, it is Cinderella. She is the neglected, hardworking, dreaming princess. She is the essence of a hope that good things come to those work patiently.

The story of Cinderella is perhaps the most classic of all. She is a young girl with a harsh stepmother and stepsisters who abuse and neglect her in her own home. Yet Cinderella does not lash out, instead she works and finds happiness from the animals and small daily tasks of the life around her. Upon the encouragement of her friends, she readies herself for the ball, and with the help of her fairy Godmother, she makes it there in the most idolized princess dress of all time.

The Prince falls in love with the mysterious Cinderella, but she must leave the ball before he learns her name. She leaves behind a simple glass shoe, which he uses to search the kingdom to find the woman he loves. When he learns of Cinderella's political standing, he does not rebuke his love, but extends himself to her with open arms.

Cinderella remains the epic of all Princess stories. Girls fall in love with her beautiful blue dress and blonde hair! With her step-family, a fairy Godmother, and a devoted Prince, her tale is unrivaled. Her gowns are stunning, and she is admired for her humble upbringing as well as her patient, dreaming attitude towards life. For Cinderella, there is always a more pleasant side to life, if only one can imagine it. Imagination and a positive attitude are the most notable qualities of Cinderella. This attitude, combined with her gentle nature, makes her one of the most loved princesses of all time.

Puppy Boredom and How to Cure It

,
LEARNING WITH ANIMATION:

Many people don't understand that puppies demand not only a lot of attention, but also a lot of exercise as well. If they don't get it they will begin to amuse themselves, and when that happens it's never pretty. Puppies, left to entertain themselves, will chew, drag and destroy almost anything they can drag around.

The best cure for this is preventative. Play with your puppy. Give the pup lots of praise and love, and the dog will be happy. This is not to say that the puppy still will not chew, because they do indeed. However, they will not do it as much.

When A puppy picks up a bad habit, such as chewing, you must immediately correct the behavior. Left unattended the habit will become harder to break. You should train the puppies to behave, starting as soon as they are weaned. Of course they will not understand at first. Even grown dogs do not, but they will learn.

Whining is another sign of a bored puppy. Puppies, when ignored, will whine for attention, especially if there is just one. With multiple puppies, such as a litter, much of their time may be spent playing with each other. Lone puppies, on the other hand, will not have the interaction of a litter mate and will whine and beg for your attention.

A puppy will also begin to whine when he wants food and water, or to be let out to use the bathroom if they are housebroken.

It is very important to understand the difference between simple whining and yelping. While whining is usually a sign that the puppy is bored and wants attention, yelping generally indicates pain or illness.

Always be sure to keep the puppy's area clear of anything you don't want him to chew, as they will generally chew everything they can reach, including couches, kitchen chairs and shoes. Ensure that anything you leave down for the puppy to play with is safe. This means that there shouldn't be any small parts that can be swallowed. If it's not safe for a human baby, it's not safe for a puppy either.

The best way to keep your puppy from chewing out of boredom is to spent a lot of time socializing with your pup. Get down on the floor and play with him. Small puppies love to wrestle and play. It is during these exercises that they normally find their "voices" as well. Understand that when playing with him the puppy will grown and bark at you. He is not being aggressive, just playful.

If, while playing, the puppy lowers himself to the ground you should stop what you're doing, as this is a sign that the pup is scared. You don't want to scare the little guy, merely have fun with him. In a moment or two the puppy will stop being afraid and will continue to play.

Give the puppy as much play time as you possibly can. Not only will this help with boredom, but the more social the pup becomes, the easier he will be to housebreak and train, and the easier it will be for the pup to get along with other animals.

Don't worry about feeling foolish for being on the floor with the puppy. You may feel like a kid, but your puppy will love you for it.

Sabie Accommodation Has Warm and Wonderful Memories

,
LEARNING WITH ANIMATION:

Sabie Accommodation has a recollection of beautiful and and warm thoughts for me. I was between 11 and 12 years old, going on a family week holiday with my family. My siblings were babies and my family much younger.

The trip was wonderful. We enjoyed the local game together every day, learning together about wildlife gestation periods, eating habits, etc. We dined together for all meals and chatted away endlessly about our day's activities.

Our Sabie Accommodation was really special. The Sabie guest house accommodation was specially catered for our family's needs. My younger sister was only a year old at the time and so we needed a child-friendly place.

It was a wonderful trip and the family thoroughly enjoyed the game viewing and tree climbing. Daily trips to animals and wildlife were close and comprised our full days.

The weather was splendid in that we could dress comfortably and enjoyed the daily local Sabie game drives without feeling that the weather was all too consuming.

Sabie in South Africa's Mpumalanga offers an exceptional visit. It is a beautiful province and well known both locally and internationally for its diverse array of wildlife viewing, including Sabie game drives.

Dining and accommodation are all part of the treat and the experience. As a local South African, I recommend all to view and enjoy the local game with respect. Never leave your vehicle and relish in being able to enjoy the protected wildlife in their own environments.

Sabie is associated with South African game and South African wildlife.

Elements of the 21st Century Classroom

,
LEARNING WITH ANIMATION:

What does the 21st Century classroom look like? How does it operate? While we can't predict what classrooms will look like by 2099 (if we still have classrooms at all), we can certainly make a few comments about the way things are heading.

About a century ago, classrooms were often one-room affairs and the teacher had a tendency to write things down on a chalkboard, while students wrote with ink pens and inevitably ended up covered with hard-to-remove black or blue stains. Rote learning of the 3 Rs was the basis of much elementary school learning, and Latin was still compulsory at high school level. We won't mention corporal punishment. The 21st Century classroom looks a lot different, to say the least.

In the 21st Century classroom, things are made much clearer for teachers. Usually, each core curriculum area is carefully outlined, with key skills for each, and examples of how students can demonstrate that they have managed the "desired outcomes" at each level. Taking English as one example of a core subject, a key skill is "Demonstrate originality and inventiveness in work" and a typical indicator of the desired outcome is for a student to be able to produce, say, a cartoon or a short story version of a traditional tale.

This idea isn't all that novel, but in the 21st Century classroom, students have other options other than just the short stories or cartoons. Now, instead of just storyboarding or illustrating their own version of, say, one of Aesop's fables, students can really create the film, using claymation or stop-motion animation (the latter is the easier and can be done with plastic animals, toy cars, articulated action figure, etc.). And then they can post the final product online so parents and relatives can see the result.

Similarly, instead of just writing out a poem and embellishing it with appropriate illustrations and maybe providing a glossary in the form of footnotes. In the 21st Century classroom, students can create a webpage of the poem, complete with a suitable soundtrack and links to related pages as well as illustrations. For example, Keats's "La Belle Dame Sans Merci" could be linked to dictionary pages explaining the obscure words (e.g. "sedge"), reproductions of some of the classic paintings on the topic, and further links to information about the pre-Raphaelite painters who were inspired by the poem. And that's just one example from one curriculum area.

Classroom laptops, video players, audio equipment (CD and tape decks with headphones) and digital cameras are common forms of equipment in the 21st Century classroom. It's pretty much standard these days for children - even in Grade 3 - to type out and print "good copies" of their work for presentation. And that's just the start...

The important part about any 21st Century classroom equipment is knowing how to use it appropriately. Methods developed and researched from the early use of multi media and video are still effective for enhancing lessons. Mistakes you don't even know you're making can be impacting your lesson.
